A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

Today is our first day of driving in Colombia.
The trip will bring us from Cartagena to Sincelejo; about 130 miles.
But first we put the names of Floor and Daan on the hood of the Land Rover.

And they get the keys for the car.

Than we go to the children’s centre outside Cartagena.
The Children are waiting for us in their beautiful clothes.

The children make music for us and one of the teachers makes a South American dance with Dirk.

After this beautiful meeting we continue at 12 our route to Sincelejo.

We also say good-bye to Rodolfo, who was our guide for the time in Cartagena.

Today is Floor’s first drive in the Land Rover.

The mountains are very, very steep.
The Model T got a flat tire, but Daan and Dirk put a spare tire on the car.

When we arrive near Sinclejo in the afternoon, our host Rodrigo Hernandez picked us up in his Model A pick-up.

He brings us to his garage in the center of the city.
At the second floor of his garage he has an apartment, were we can spend the night.

Today we have driven more than 130 miles and we did our first climbs in the mountains without any problems.
