A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Monday July 1st

Posted on 1 July 2013 by willy

Today is a real holiday for us, we don’t have to wake up early. Without a hurry we take a shower, have breakfast and skype with the people in Holland.

When Trudy wants to hang up the laundry, she finds somebody who wants to help her…

At 11 o’clock we go to the Bryce Canyon, Dirk and Trudy stay at the campsite. We take the shuttlebus to several viewpoints, and go for a short walk. The Bryce Canyon is very impressive, and so different than the Grand Canyon! The Grand Canyon is caused by the Colorado River, while the Bryce Canyon is caused by rain and ice.

For tonight we found a night opportunity to do over the dinner for Dirk and Trudy again. But first we go play tourists together. We go on a picture dressed in Utah western style. We have a lot of fun dressing up already. First the ladies get to pick out a dress. After that the guys also get an outfit, including pistols, backs of money and bottles of whiskey.

Back at the campsite we have a drink and take the train to a Western dinner show. The Bar G Wranglers provide a nice evening for us. Dirk and Trudy really enjoyed the present for their anniversary.

After the show we have a drink at our campfire, after that we get in our tipi. Tomorrow we will drive further towards Jackson.
