A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

We rise at six, we have a long drive ahead of us. We check our maps to discuss the route. We try to avoid highways.

We have to climb high mountains up to 9600 ft! And what comes up, must go down…

Dirk-jan and Joris take some nice pictures and shoot some shots of the Model T in the mountains.

At 16.45 we can choose to drive another 32 miles, or drive 8 miles off road to the nearest campground. We choose the last option. The Land Rover has got a hard job, the Model T keeps up with the Land Rover quite well.

We end up at a campsite at an elevation of 9800 ft! We are the only visitors on this nice campground. There are a lot of mosquitoes flying around, so we wrap ourselves up. A smoky campfire also helps. We have some time to select photos and write reports for the website.

I just wanted to share that my wife and I drove behind you this day for a while, in our white pick up with a blue and an orange kayak on top, really enjoying the fact that you have traveled so much and so far in this car! Way to go!
