A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report June 19th & 20th

    Report 19th and 20th June
    Report by Floor

    Thursday 19th June
Today we’re leaving Quito, heading to Riobamba. Bill guides us out of Quito. As a proof that we’re high in the mountains, we see snow.

Then we have to say goodbye to Bill.

    bye Bill

    bye Bill

Again the Model-T shows it’s a speed monster.

Later, we drive slower and slower, because we can’t see a thing in the clouds.

At the end of the afternoon, we arrive in Riobamba. The hotel likes the world tour so much they give us a free night. Everyone goes to bed early, tomorrow the last day for Daan and Floor.

    Friday 20th June
Today the last day for Daan and Floor, heading to Guayaquil. Also today we drive in the clouds, with some funny traffic on the way.

The first part we drove slowly, because of all the mountains. It gives us more time to enjoy the view.

    wow!

    wow!

The second part goes very fast. A taxi guides us to the office of David and Carlos, some contacts from Hugo (Cali). They bring us to a campside.

After this we have a dinner together, again a good day!
