A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

    November 18th – day 150

    Sunday 18 November

Inge and DJ make a walk in the morning. There are nice hiking trails in these mountains.

    walk

    walk

The roof rack of the Land Rover is becoming a warehouse more and more. Some parts are: 3 suitcases, 3 totally warn tyres, wheel rim, triangle for towing the Ford, stairs for the roof tent and some wood for making the campfire.

It’s Sunday and we see a lot of bikers on the road. The roads are perfect for it, for now…

There is a sign: beware potholes!

The road is full of it, some of them you can not avoid.

We take a brake now and then. We have a nice music in the Land Rover and Dirk and Trudy make a little dance.

After these bad roads, we check the wheels. The right rear wheel has got some more space in his bearing.

At 17.00 we arrive in Zastron.

    We drove today 280 km.

Trudy plays a song on the guitar at the campfire.

    Tomorrow we go to Queenstown.

    November 17th – day 149

Posted on 17 November 2012 by willy

    Saturday 17 November

After a good night in our ‘private’ cottage, Dirk services the Model T. He can use the car lever again.

After the service, we film the cars of Kevin, he tells a lot about them.

He started building the 1911 runabout when he bought the headlights in a museum that closed. After that he builds the car ‘around’ it.

To import the parts from America is a very expensive job. 50% invoice Tax. Kevin is very handy and has many tools, he builds lots of parts by himself. He does this also for other people in the country. He is now building 3 Model T radiators.

He can talk for hours about cars.

At 12.00 we leave after a goodbye picture.

Before we leave the dogs are sitting already in ‘het bakkie’.

Inge doesn’t like dogs very much, but these ones are her friends.
