Anthony, a blind boy of 8 years old, visited us to “feel” the Model T.
He has a very rare eye illness and they also do fundraising for research of that illness.

We leave the camp site and drive along the beautiful Highway 1.
Sometimes very steep but every time we reach the top again.

During our trip this day we meet a German couple. He is a teacher on a technical school and he and his students are working on an engine of a Model T.
He loves the sound of the running engine.

At the end of the day we look for a camp site.
We find one, called the Plaskett Creek, and we are invited by the Plaskett family to stay at their place.

The next day, 21 June, we continue our trip on Hwy 1.

When we arrived at Castroville we decided not to go to San Francisco, because otherwise we will be back in Las Vegas on time to pick up our new support crew.
So we leave Hwy 1 here and go to the east.
We see a lot of fields with curled kale.

Between 2 lakes in the San Luis Reserve we find a place to make our camp.

Today, 22 June, we are exactly one year on the road with our world tour.
We have almost driven 20,000 miles in 200 days.

Sunday 23 June we wake up early because we want to go to Las Vegas today and that is about 300 miles.
We have to pass two mountain passes and at 3.30 PM we arrive at the house of Frank and Suk Hi Ross in Las Vegas, were we are invited to have a very nice dinner.
It is very special to have good friends all over the world.

Today we go to Highway 1, the beautiful route along the Pacific Ocean.

We pass strawberry fields and vine gards.
We travel along the historic El Camino Real. To mark this route there are big bells along the road.

After about 150 miles through the mountains it is time to look for a place to sleep.
We find a big RV park in Oceano. There is no internet so we are free this evening.
No problem because now we have time to play our card play.

Today we will visit two world-famous Classic car museums in Los Angeles.
First we visit the Nethercutt Collection.
It is a beautiful collection classic cars of the Nethercutt family.
Skip Marketti, the chief curator, gives us a tour along all the cars.

Another part of the museum is fit up as a hall with the most beautiful cars of the collection.

One floor of the museum is fit up as a music hall with very rare music instruments.
Kyle Irwin, the organ tech/curator, tells us a lott about al the instruments.
Some of the instruments come from Holland.
The hole hall looks like a real theatre.

After the nice lunch we have to go to the Mullin Automotive Museum.
When we arrived there we where warmly welcomed by Rub Talbot of the museum.

They opened the museum special for us.
Also in this museum are very beautiful and rare classic cars like Le Voisin, Bugatti, Duesenberg, Pierce Arrow.

Ruby showed us a Bugatti with the value between 30 and 40 million dollars.

On the first floor they imitate a race circuit with several race cars beside the road.

It was again a beautiful tour.

After the Mullin Automotive Museum we looked for a campsite near the Passific Ocean and we found one near Malibu.

We have a nice evening with our neighbours Mary Sagala Marsh and Ken.

We slept at the campsite near the Roadster Show. There were more guests that have visited the show with their cars.

We go back to the show in the Model T and say good-bye to Bill and his friends.
Hopefully we will meet again in Hershey in October.

Via Joris Bergsma, the editor of PreWar Car, we are invited to visit Rose en Roger Bowers; friends of Joris for a long time. From our hotel it is about 1 hour driving through the city of Los Angeles. We have to climb a steep hill and suddenly and unexpected we arrive in Hollywood.

Rose and Roger live in a very colourful and decorated house. The way they have done the interior is inspirited by the Spanish architect Gaudi.
In their beautiful garden we were invited to drink some nice, home made drinks.

We can talk for hours about houses, cars and pets.

But unfortunately we have to go after one hour. We want to be back in our hotel before it will be to dark.
We say goodbye to Roger and Rose and thanks them for the invitation.

Today we will visit The Greatest Roadster Show on Earth in Pomona, California.
There are more than 600 classic cars; all Roadsters and Hot-Rods.

Bill Sherrill has arranged that we can visit the show with the Model T and the Land Rover.

Before we enter the show we have to go trough a party-tent.
It fits for the Model T, but for the Land Rover it has to be lift up.

We stand on a nice spot, near Coker Tire.
A lot of people brings us a visit and are interested in our world tour.
At the end of the day we have collected $341 for the projects of SOS-children’s villages.

After the show we have a nice dinner with Bill and his friends.

After diner Trudy and Dirk got pie with a candle and the waiters sing a song for us because of our 41st wedding anniversary.

Because the problem with the Land Rover is still there, Dirk looked into the manualbooks of the car and contacted his garage in Holland.
They advised to clean the crankshaft sensor.

We went to another Land Rover garage in Pasadena and they could help us successfully.
They cleaned the sensor, which was very dirty and reset the computer of the car.
They gave us the guarantee that the car is good now.

Back in our hotel we meet Kirra Korvink. She is very interested in our world tour and she donated spontaneous $ 50.-

Now we have a room with a Jacuzzi bath. Very luxury, but we only used to sit on and to make our report for the website.

We start the day with looking for a garage to solve the problem with the Land Rover.
They check the car with the computer but they can not find any problem. So they think that the problem is solved.

We want to find a campsite in the hills, so the Land Rover has to climb a lot.
Again the engine failed, so the problem is back again.
The campsite is not what we want, so we decide to stay one more night in the hotel.
Today we have an appointment with Bill Sherril, the man from Houston where we started our tour in the US.
Bill has arranged, with the support of Jay Klehfoth, de Ceo/Editor of the Model T Ford Club of America, that we can visit the The Tonight Show of Jay Leno.
First we have a conducted tour through the garage of Jay Leno. He has a very rare collection of all kind of classic cars and motorcycles.
After this tour we go to the studio for the show.
It is a beautiful show with entertainment and music.
After the show they made a picture with us and Jay Leno.

Back in his garage Jay showed us his most favourite cars.

Las Vegas – Los Angeles

Wake up early, because it is a long trip from Las Vegas to Los Angeles.

Frank and Sukhi Ross say good bye and we start our 225 miles long trip.

We travel over the mountains into the dessert and take Interstate 15.

A lot of traffic and many big trucks are passing us.

During our rip we see the Joshua trees and the yucca’s in the dessert.

At once the Land Rover gives some troubles for the first time during our World tour.

The engine does not react on the foot throttle.

Dirk looks under the hood if he can find something wrong.

Het stops the engine and than start it again. It runs and we continue our trip.

We decided to look for a Land Rover garage in Los Angeles.

We have to cross the Mountain pass of 4731 feet high, so we have to go in the low gear.

When we arrive in Los Angeles, we can park the Model T in the world-famous garage of Jay Leno, between al kinds of beautiful classic cars.

Here it is a good place for the Model T to have a rest after such a long trip.

Today we make the preparation for our trip to Los Angeles.

Dirk visited with Frank en Tera the Thunderbird Museum of The US Air Force.

These jet-fighters are still often used for airplane shows.

You can see that the cockpit of a Thunderbird has a lot of more gauges than a Model T.

In the evening we visit the monthly club event of the Southern Nevada Model T Club.

We have a nice, long weekend in Las Vegas.

Have some rest, do some shopping, visiting the Strip and of course some maintenances at the Model T.
