A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Driving day camping Hopa – Giresun

    By Arnaud and Roos

Unzip the tent and look out over the sea. What a great place!

Yesterday the sea was too rough for swimming, we couldn’t get through the surf. But now the sea is calmer and we take a dip.

Today we’re going to make miles! We are behind schedule and want to try to catch up. We drive on the highway along the coast. On the left the mountains and cities, on the right the Black Sea.

We are making good progress, but the road is not very charming. Mainly a lot of apartment buildings and traffic. We do have lunch in a fairly chic restaurant. We eat deliciously and there is a toilet 😃

We decide to stop in Giresun after 315 km!!! I found a nice hotel about 200m from the road. The photos on Google look good, and it looks like there is a parking space… but appearances are deceiving and I send the Land-Rover and T-Ford up the mountain in style 😬 . Super narrow and mega steep streets with a 3500 kg Land-Rover is not funny. We also have to go back a bit…. Sweat between my buttocks!!! But Arnaud passed for not stressing and hats off to this slope test!! The T-Ford also stalls…. But Dirk also passed, and Trudy has become 10 years older… There is a lot of commotion and attention in the town on the mountain. I would like to go through it again on foot. It will be a roadside hotel.
