A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Posted on 28 October 2012 by willy

    Sunday 28th october

We have a nice place in the shadow.

Dirk cleans the air filter of the T Ford and Dirk-jan the air filter of the Land Rover.

At 10.00 we leave from the campsite to Livingstone. We drive on good roads and we see nice villages.

Dirk has a lot of power today, we go 83 km per hour!

Inge tries her mobile office for the first time.

We drive through a piece of land that is set on fire, you feel the heat in the car.

At 14.45 we arrived in Livingstone, we drove today 199 km.

It’s very hot today, less shadow, we search for a place to put our tent. We are warned that this place is in the walking line of the elephants. We can put our tents by a house with a toilet and shower. This place is more save.

At night Dirk calls us, he heard the elephants. They are close by. Were going to sit with Trudy and Dirk in the roof tent. There are 4 elephants walking around us, one is 1 meter from hour car. His back is the same height as the top of the roof tent. Huge! Very exiting!
