A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report 7 October

Posted on 7 October 2014 by DirkJan

Report 7 October By Dirk La Siberia-El Calafate 282 km. Daar willen we vandaag aankomen. After a continental breakfast with a lot of stuff from our own stock we depart for our trip to El Calafate were we want to arrive today. leaving La Siberia Bij inspectie van de T-Ford voor het vertrek blijkt de rechter steunbalk van de vooras aan de voorkant gebroken te zijn. After inspection of the Model T Dirk noticed that the right side of the wishbone of the front axle was broken. He decided to lash the front axle to the rear side of the car. The road is very bad again and after 6 miles Dirk inspected the axle and it looks good. After 25 miles Arnaud and Dirk hear a hard knock under the car and after inspection they see that the wishbone is completely gone; broken and lost. Arnaud and Dirk go back with the Land Rover to look for the lost part and after 12 miles they find it on the middle of the road. the lost part Gelukkig komen er een paar mensen van het bedrijf langs dat bezig is met de aanleg van de weg en bieden aan om in hun werkplaats de stang te repareren. Fortunately we are near a workshop of the construction company of the and they invite us to repair the car at their workshop. Again they helped us very good, we are lucky again, and after one hour of repairing we can continue our trip to El Calafate. repairing 2 repairing 1 repairing 3 repairing 4 measuring good job done Op naar El Calafate waar we rond 5 uur in de middag aankomen. on the road to El Calafate We zoeken een leuke Cabaňa op waar we de aankomende dagen kunnen vertoeven om Trudy en het nieuwe team te verwelkomen. We arrive in El Calafate around 5 PM. were we take a nice Cabaňa to stay for a couple of days were we can wait for Trudy and our new support crew Liza and Wouter.

      Geweldig!

      Sukses weer verder
      Groetjes Tiny
