A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

The first few hours the road is very good, we drive a lot of miles.

In Greenriver we see some hotrods.

We have to drive a short distance on the highway. However it is not very busy and we’re doing fine.

At 10.30 we drink coffee at an abandoned place with a lot of stuff. Dirk drives on the tractor.

We drive north over a great road. We leave Wyoming and enter Idaho.

We pass some signs that warn for bears, however we haven’t seen a bear yet…

At 16.30 we enter Victor and call Allen. He and his wife Kat invited us to stay with them for a couple of days. Allen doesn’t answer his phone. Therefore we have to while, which gives us a good opportunity to get an ice cream. It’s the perfect temperature for that!

Allen and Kat pick us up in a nice Triumph TR3A of 1959.

At home they show us that the local newspaper wrote about the world tour. Coming Monday there will be raised money in a local bar for us.

Kat made us a very nice Thai curry, which should not be too spicy… Apparently it is, however it’s very nice!

Today we drove 395 kilometres, tomorrow we will rent Harley’s in Jackson, looking forward to it!
