A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report 23 August 2024

Last night we replaced the fuel pump, but the problem turned out to be in the switch…connected it and it drives like a rocket again.

Today we are heading towards the Austrian border, we drive a beautiful inland route. Linde and Femke are playing hide and seek in the back of the car.
To make some kilometres, we decide to take a stretch of highway and take the last exit before the tunnel towards Austria because driving an 8 km long tunnel in an open T-Ford is not pleasant.
Unfortunately, we get into a big fat traffic jam, there are road works but little work is being done… exits are closed so we only have the choice to wait until we can get off.

After an hour and a half, we can finally get off. We go looking for a place to sleep. We arrive at a campsite, unfortunately it has no place for us. We are referred to a campsite further on. Unfortunately, it is poorly signposted; after asking around we finally find it. We arrive at an eco-campsite, we are allowed to stay there. There is a nice courtyard with a pony walking around and lots of nice seats.

In the evening a campfire is made, Simon and Femke play songs on the accordion by the campfire. We just missed Austria, tomorrow we cross the border.

    Today we drove 125 km
