A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

    Report 30 June

Posted on 30 June 2024 by DirkJan

    By DJ and Danny

Had the Landrover sprayed this morning, windows cleaned, bling bling!

Dirk and Danny are doing stretching exercises while having coffee, they look like ostriches!

Along the way we are offered some kind of oliebollen by boys who run with our car.

We have some delays again from road workers who we see placing dynamite
There your shoes sink 5cm into the ‘cement sand’.

A boy walks with his goat on a rope, and also has to wait.

The boy has quite a job because that goat doesn’t want to cooperate one bit, haha

His goat likes the melon that is overripe.

Fortunately, Trudy also managed to score a good melon.

And furthermore it is a very dusty ride, LR is ‘grey’ again… 😀

We encounter 2 boys on a donkey, with a birdcage and of course a smartphone.

At 1600 we stop in a chic hotel on the river,

The soup is delicious but the meat is taaaaaiiiiii!

A game of cards in the evening; bullying, with a lot of jokers, Dirk has to take 21 cards 😊

Tomorrow we start on the northern ‘scenic’ route to Dushanbe

Drove 112 km, it is 1450m high in Shirg

      Tjongejonge Danny,
