A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report April 4

Today we leave for Beijing for the big adventure.
I have a feeling that this will be the most adventurous trip of the world trip.
Our children Dirk-jan, Rozemarijn and Willy took us to Schiphol.
Waved goodbye by the neighbors, Inge, Simon and Linde, we left our familiar Edam.
At Schiphol we admired the new revolving door that Dirk-jan installed there, which he proudly showed off.
Had a nice coffee and handed in the suitcases. Mine was too heavy but I was able to transfer some into Trudy’s. Nico and Marijke had already handed in their suitcases. Waved goodbye by the children, we went to customs.

We left the ground at a quarter past 4.
It’s going to be a long flight of over 11 hours, so maybe I can get some sleep.
