A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report August 17, 2024

Today we get up nice and quietly, I get fresh rolls and we all have a nice breakfast. It is a bit cloudy today, but it is still well above 30 degrees.
The children prefer to swim, as soon as they get the chance they go to the swimming pool. At lunchtime we have a hard time getting them to eat a sandwich. Sandwich and drinks behind them and they are off again, enjoying it so much.

Trudy is doing a wash, there are washing machines here at the campsite so this time it doesn’t have to be done by hand. Dirk is tinkering with the T-Ford

I am getting stuff to make pasta with sauce tonight. With Trudy’s pans I am cooking a meal for 11 people. The pan that is here in the tent is big enough for 8 eggs but it won’t fit much more let alone a meal for 11 people.

After dinner we get another ice cream (the 3rd ice cream of the day for the kids 🍦😋)
Then a quick dip in the Adriatic Sea with those who want to come along. Some have swum enough today and prefer to dive into a Duckie.
A game of pesten before going to bed makes the day complete.
