A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Akhaltsikhe – waterfall

    By Arnaud and Roos

We start our day at Rabati Castle. The castle dates from the 9th century. It is a walled city with a mosque from the Ottoman period. It is beautifully situated on top of a mountain with lots of water, all connected via streams, fountains or baths. Together with the green gardens and patios and the beautiful old buildings, towers and walls, it makes it a complex where you get lost in your thoughts, rest and fantasize about what it must have been like in the past.

After visiting the castle we continue the journey west. Arnaud has selected a nice route. 4WD is recommended… because part of the route is unpaved and you have to brave a mountain pass of 2500 meters into the clouds. The journey is exciting at times, but the route and the nature are beautiful! And the drivers are so good at steering. The view remains fascinating and never boring. We are not going to reach our goal today because of the bad road. It turns out to be very difficult to drive the planned 170/200 km per day, despite the many hours of driving. At the end of the day we find a hotel next to a waterfall 😃
