A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

    Report July 31

    Gerisun – Samsun

    By Arnaud and Roos

Mainly Turkish tourists spend their holidays along the Black Sea coast. You will hardly encounter Western tourists here. But the hotel where we stayed now is probably only for very devout Muslims…. . At first they didn’t have room for us either, but with a little

They don’t have beer in the café here. Yesterday I went to 5 supermarkets on a beer hunt, but also without success… After a hot day of driving, drinking a beer together has become a wonderful reward and a kind of closing ritual. But today without beer. What will the road to the west bring us today… After 212 km we arrive in Samsun at 5 p.m. A fairly large city with 640 thousand inhabitants.

We have a campsite on the water with a swimming pool around the corner. Unfortunately the pool is about to close, but the boys make the most of the last 30 minutes. Arnaud and I decide to go into town looking for a few beers. Miraculously, we are approached by a man who is willing to give us a lift. His name is Emre , speaks good English, drives a chic Mercedes, has a sense of humor and helps us with beer. He also takes us back to the campsite and joins us for a beer. He is very impressed by Trudy & Dirk’s journey (The legend 😃 )
