A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

We have a slow start, Dirk and Trudy leave at 10.30. We leave at 11.00.

After a while we see the Ford standing besides the road on a steep hill.

The engine is running very hot.

When we start it again we see that some petrol comes out of the carburator.

We take the spare one to find out how this is possible. We think it’s because of standing on a steep hill. The valve doesn’t shut off the carburator when it’s full.

During many roadblocks, the Ford gets a lot of attention of enthusiastic people.

We are stopped by a very unfriendly police women.

She wants to see the turn indicators of the Ford and many other silly things. She doesn’t understand it at all.

After a lot of complaints we may leave.

At 17.00 we arrive at Standarton, in a guesthouse with Wifi that actually works!! Wow.

During the dinner it’s a real ‘a’social media party.
