A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

    November 1st – Day 133

Posted on 1 November 2012 by Rozemarijn

    Thursday 1 november

Last night we slept for the first night in the roof tent, with the snoring sound off the hippo’s on the background. It’s now our job to clean the roof tent.

Dirk assembles a new spare wheel for the model T.

Today is Dirk a film cameraman. Dirk-jan drives the model T with Dirk as co driver.
The ladies are in the Land Rover. The first part starts good. Dirk is sitting on the roof of the Land Rover and films Dirk-jan driving the model T trough the loose sand.
We drive into the national park, beware of elephants!

Dirk is not used to be a co driver. His feet are getting very hot, because of the exhaust pipe underneath this floor part.

After lunch we change car setting. Inge and Dirk-jan have a ‘romantic’ trip in the Model T.

    We passed the Okavango River.

We arrived at 16.30 on campsite Poppa Falls at Divindu. From here it’s 20 km to the Botswana border. We drove 219 km today.

We put our tents beside a little fall. We are warned by the camping owner, to be aware of crocodiles and hippo’s! It’s our own risk

Louise
