A charity tour for orphan children

Trudy and Dirk Regter from the Netherlands go on a world tour in a 1915 Ford Model T, covering all continents of the world. They are making this trip with the aim of raising money for orphans worldwide.

To date, they have driven 64,000 miles across 31 countries and have raised more than $45,000 spent on children's projects in Colombia and Bolivia. An earlier trip by Dirk in 2007 from Beijing to Paris in the Model T raised more than $140,000, of which 2 children's projects were built in Mongolia. The last part of their world tour, about 10,500 miles, takes them back home to the Netherlands via Asia. If you support the purpose of this journey, you can take ownership of some of these 10,500 miles of this final leg.

Buy your miles and thus contribute to a better future for orphans.

    Report November 7th.
    Edit by Trudy.

In the morning we go back to Jack and Maryline Putnam’s house, because our Model T had spend the night in their garage between Jack’s beautiful Model T’s.
Jack tells Dirk about the restoration of his 1911 Runabout.

Dirk saw some old chairs and asked Jack if these are for a new Model T project.

After visiting the garage we drink coffee and Maryline gave us a plate with home made cookies.

We continue our tour on secondary roads. The wind is rather cold but the sun is shining and the Model T likes this kind of typical Dutch weather.

Dirk has to do a little bit maintenance when we have a coffee stop.

In Urbana we visited the Model T part shop of Gaslight Auto Parts.
Dirk need some new spark plugs and gets them for free as a donation for our tour.

Because the fuel in the spare can is rather old, we think from Texas last May, Dirk put it in the fuel tank.

So we ended up the day with a nice low-standing sun and old fuel.
